The Victorian Steampunk Society
The Victorian Steampunk Society was formed in 2009 to facilitate and promote steampunk within the UK. We are involved in art exhibitions, education programmes, cultural events and conventions, even flashmobs and picnics. We run not for profit and make annual donations to selected charities. (Our principal 2015 charity is Water Aid) We are run by a small group of active steampunks for the steampunk community. Weekend at the Asylum is our flagship event. It began with just over 400 steampunks at The Lawn in Lincoln (A former Victorian lunatic asylum, hence the name) and has now grown to what is probably the biggest steampunk festival in the World. Each year we take over the historic quarter of the City of Lincoln with thousands of steampunks enjoying socialising, literature, art, music, dance and just plain fun.
